Welcome to the website for Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Cozad, Nebraska. We also would invite you to come and worship with us. We believe that your experience will be enjoyable and that you will receive a blessing from worshipping with us. Our goal is to worship and praise the Lord in a way that is pleasing and acceptable to Him!

We use the King James Bible and do so because we believe it is the best English translation. One of the truly great blessings that God has given is the Scriptures. In them He has revealed to us His purpose and work of salvation on the behalf of His elect family, the children of God. Surely, we can appreciate God’s mercy in using this way to communicate to the children of God.

It is the duty of every person to acknowledge God as sovereign and to recognize that all our help and blessings come from Him. The scriptures teach that each one of us is here because of the power and mercy of God. He has created the earth and all creatures including man for the purpose that they should worship Him.

Our worship services are simple and traditional; this is what makes them dynamic. Our singing consists of a capella congregational singing, during which anyone is welcome to request a hymn by number from our songbook. Prayer is offered during the service just prior to the preaching and we close our service with prayer. Additionally, when we feel the need and the leadership of the Holy Spirit we may offer public prayer at other times during the service as well.

Our pastor (and occasionally other invited Primitive Baptist ministers) brings the message from God’s word under the leadership of the Holy Spirit following the song service. We are blessed and thankful that God has chosen and called men to teach us from the scriptures. We long to please our Lord in our walk and we need to be continually instructed from His word to that purpose. Furthermore, the preaching of the gospel brings us to a close fellowship with the Spirit that we find refreshing and through which we are blessed to understand God’s truths.

We believe that God has given us a treasure for which others are searching. Perhaps you are one of those persons and are on a quest to know more about Biblical Christianity. We invite you to consider the message we proclaim. We believe that God is sovereign in both salvation and providence. He rules His world, reigning as the ultimate and absolute authority in heaven and in earth. The God we worship is Eternal, Unchanging, Holy, Omnipresent, Faithful, Wise, Just and Good. He is the God of Creation, Providence and Redemption. He is merciful and gracious, Sovereign and the loving Heavenly Father.

You ask, “Why do you feel this way about God?” We have found in our years of experience that these principles are the truths that sustain us and encourage us.
